Paint Calculator
Estimate paint quantities by area and number of coats.
Project & Input Data
Use the coverage rate from the manufacturer's product datasheet.
An editable user-defined allowance — not a universal engineering requirement.
Engineering Assumptions
- The coverage rate is user-entered; no universal rate is assumed.
- The substrate is assumed properly prepared for the paint system used.
- All percentages and inputs are user-defined; the calculation is purely arithmetic and assumes no particular code or specification.
Formula Summary
- Net area = max(L × H × surfaces − openings, 0)
- Base litres = (net area × coats) ÷ coverage rate
- Total litres = base litres × (1 + waste%)

Engineering Insight
Coverage depends on the substrate, paint system, application method and surface preparation. Spray versus roller application can change consumption substantially, so rely on manufacturer data.
Recommended Action
Check the technical datasheet, use the practical rather than theoretical coverage rate, and order whole containers nearest to the calculated quantity.
Next step
This calculator is fully usable as it is. Professional adds saved projects, calculation history and PDF/Excel reports; Premium adds the integrated workflows and the BOQ generator.
