Engineering Assumptions
- Days are effective working days; holidays, weather stoppages and trade interference are excluded.
- The cost covers labour only — materials, equipment and overheads are excluded.
- All percentages and inputs are user-defined; the calculation is purely arithmetic and assumes no particular code or specification.
Formula Summary
- Crew daily output = crew size × output per worker
- Duration = quantity ÷ crew daily output
- Crew-days = ceil(duration) × crew size
- Labour cost = crew-days × daily rate

Engineering Insight
Unit labour cost is the right comparison metric: a bigger crew shortens the duration but only lowers unit cost if output per worker also improves.
Recommended Action
Track actual output weekly, update the entered rate, and re-run the duration before committing to the programme.
